While you're here
Once an ancient royal hunting forest, now a national park, Exmoor’s rugged moorland vistas, acres of woodland, rivers and reservoirs have been drawing visitors from across the UK and the world for centuries.
Explore the wilds of Exmoor
Covering swathes of west Somerset and North Devon, Exmoor is named after the River Exe, which flows through its heart. With a temperate climate and 34 miles of coastline, it is a natural gem in the South West of England.
The countryside in this part of the world is untamed and breathtaking, with views that remind you how small you are in the greater scheme of things - rocky outcrops, coarse grasses and heather stretching in undulating waves towards the sea.
Wild moorland ponies and deer roam the rugged peaks; farms and hamlets nestle against the hills and above the sky spreads out its canopy - blue and grey by day, at night inky black, studded with a million stars. This land of legends is the ideal place from which to retreat from the rigours of the modern world and rediscover a more mindful pace.
Offroad wildlife safaris
Red deer, Exmoor ponies, rare birds - see them all with the help of expert guides on a 4x4 wildlife safari. With exclusive access to National Trust off-road tracks, this is your chance to see Exmoor up close and personal, stopping at historic sites and photo spots along the way.
Fresh and seawater fishing
If fishing is your game, you’ll find a wide range of options here. Both seawater and freshwater options are available, including game and coarse fisheries, as well as fly fishing. Whether you prefer a sheltered bay, quiet river or open sea, most waters are accessible to visitors.
